Why read it

One short, perfect nightmare you can read in an evening and turn over for years, funny, awful, and unforgettable. The clearest doorway into the strange world of Kafka.

Themes
SettingEarly 20th century · Central Europe

A cramped, modern, early-20th-century city of clerks and rented rooms, where a person’s worth is measured by their usefulness, and withdrawn the moment it lapses.
