Hestia

Hestia · the place kept beside the hearth

Hestia has a place in the houses of gods and mortals. At a feast, the wine poured in her honour comes both first and last.

Context

Homeric Hymn 29 brings her into the home with Hermes. Its brief invitation honours the divine presence within the ordinary life of a household.
