Narcissus

Narcissus · the face beyond the water

Narcissus bends over a clear pool and meets a face that follows every movement of his own. He reaches towards the water, trying to touch the figure looking back.

Context

In this episode of Metamorphoses III, Narcissus mistakes his reflection for another person. The pool gives him an image that he cannot hold.
